Sure, we load up on fresh produce on Saturday at the Portland Farmers Market downtown. But we always find additional inspiration in Hillsdale on Sunday.
And if this vibrant market isn’t quite enough incentive to get us out of our warm bed in the morning, the thought of perfectly pulled espresso and world-class Coconut Cream Pie at Baker & Spice afterward eradicates all reluctance.
The Hillsdale Farmers’ Market is open weekly from May through Thanksgiving week in November and twice monthly December through April. The market operates on Sundays from 10am-2pm and is held in the Wilson High-Rieke Elementary parking lot, 1405 SW Vermont St. Parking is available at the north entrance located at the intersection of SW Capitol Hwy and SW Sunset Blvd.
From the Hillsdale Farmers Market March Grapevine:
“What’s Coming to Market? Spring has finally appeared. Watercress, miner’s lettuce, nettles, mushrooms and other early spring vegetables should be available this Sunday. Lettuce, kale, mustard greens, spinach, salad mix, braising mix, carrots, radishes, raab, potatoes and more will be readily available as well.”
